Mike has been the Chairman of Watercraft Marine since July 2023. His career stretches 3 continents and 3 decades of executive leadership in commercial bulk shipping.
As former Chief Commercial Officer at Thoresen (Thailand PLC) Mike transformed Thoresen from an obscure shipowner based in Thailand to a well-respected, household shipping name with a global commercial footprint with consistent commercial TCE over performance.
Thereafter, Mike headed up Eagle Shipping Singapore Pte Ltd, the commercial and technical arm of Eagle Shipping LLC (NYSE Listed) for Asia Pacific. At the time, Eagle was emerging from Chapter 11 and struggling to gain commercial acceptance and traction within the market. Mike quickly rebuilt their commercial capabilities, established commercial credibility, and transformed Eagle to reputable counterpart with consistent TCE over-performance.
Mike is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers; holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Durban University of Technology; and a Master of Business Administration (MBA, Finance) from AGSM, UNSW, Sydney.
As Chairman, Mike provides governance and strategy guidance of Watercraft Marine whilst supporting the leadership team’s vision to revolutionize the marine safety industry through innovation and sustainable practices, ensuring Watercraft Marine remains at the forefront of lifeboat systems solutions and sets new benchmarks in the industry.
